Important Atomic and Molecular Processes in Galactic Chemistry
نویسنده
چکیده
We discuss a variety of processes important in determining the chemical composition within interstellar and circumstellar clouds. Much of the gas-phase chemistry has been well-studied in the laboratory, although we point out several processes for which information is scarce. In recent years it has become apparent that grain surface chemistry plays a much bigger role in synthesising molecules than previously realized, and we discuss the chemistry of star-forming regions as a particular example of regions in which surface rather than gas chemistry may dominate.

The Atomic to Molecular Transition in Galaxies. Ii: Hi and H2 Column Densities
Gas in galactic disks is collected by gravitational instabilities into giant atomic-molecular complexes, but only the inner, molecular parts of these structures are able to collapse to form stars. Determining what controls the ratio of atomic to molecular hydrogen in complexes is therefore a significant problem in star formation and galactic evolution. In this paper we use the model of H2 forma...
متن کامل2D-QSAR and docking studies of 4-anilinoquinazoline derivatives as epidermal growth factor receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors
Introduction: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor derivatives play an important role in the treatment of cancer. We aim to construct 2D-QSAR models using various chemometrics using 4-anilinoquinazoline-containing EGFR TKIs. In addition, the binding profile of these compounds was evaluated using a docking study. Materials and Methods: In this study, 122 compounds of...
متن کاملA computational molecular approach on chitosan vehicle for metformin
Density functional theory (DFT) calculations have been performed to study properties of chitosan (Chit) as a possible vehicle for carrying metformin (Met) drug. To this aim, the singular molecules of Met and Chit have been first optimized and sixteen possible bimolecular complexes have been subsequently constructed and optimized to obtaine the stabilized interacting structures. Two bimolecular ...
متن کاملMolecular Insight into the Mutual Interactions of Two Transmembrane Domains of Human Glycine Receptor (TM23-GlyR), with the Lipid Bilayers
Appearing as a computational microscope, MD simulation can ‘zoom in’ to atomic resolution to assess detailed interactions of a membrane protein with its surrounding lipids, which play important roles in the stability and function of such proteins. This study has employed the molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, to determine the effect of added DMPC or DMTAP molecules on the structure of D...
متن کاملAn Improved Technique for Measurement of Cold HI in Molecular Cloud Cores
The presence of atomic gas mixed with molecular species in a “molecular” cloud may significantly affect its chemistry, the excitation of some species, and can serve as probe of the cloud’s evolution. Cold neutral atomic hydrogen (HI) in molecular clouds is revealed by its self absorption of background galactic HI 21-cm emission. The properties of this gas can be investigated quantitatively thro...
